The Troop is holding elections for the second term of 2012 during the meetings in May. Those interested should consider how they would like to engage in leadership of the Troop and inform the SPL that you would like to run for office. Nominations will start on May 7 and the elections will complete on May 14. All Scouts of First Class Rank and above should submit their names to the SPL for leadership. Thunderbird Merit Badge College PDF Print E-mail

Mark your calendars now for the Spring 2012 Thunderibird Merit Badge College. The event will be held on May 12th at 4580 W 115th St, Hawthorne, CA 90250 Registration will begin at 8:30pm. All participants must reserve their attendance with counselors prior to the event. Scouts must be in full Class A uniform with a Scoutmaster signed Blue Card. Take a look at the list of Merit Badges in the information packet and follow the instructions to enroll in a class.  You can download the information and registration form at the following link:

Siwinis Lodge Potlatch PDF Print E-mail

The one and only Siwinis Lodge Potlatch / Spring Fellowship is coming up May 18th - 20th and will be held at the Camp Pollock Training Center - Forest Lawn Scout Reservation. It will be a GREAT weekend of Fun, Food and Fellowship.

Lots of activities are planned, so be ready for a fun filled Order of the Arrow weekend. 

Early Bird Registration is now open and will close on April 25. Its $25 for the Early Bird Fee, after April 25th the price is $30. If you are looking to get your Brotherhood Membership at Potlatch add $20 for the Brotherhood Sash. For Optional Shotgun shooting, please include $7 to participate.

Don't be a Late Bird, be an Early Bird and send in your Potlatch Registration TODAY..

Summer Camp 2012 PDF Print E-mail

The Troop will be going to Camp Emerson for Summer Camp 2012.  We will be there from June 24-30, 2012 (Sunday - Saturday).  Camp Emerson consists of 160 acres of old pine forest in the San Jacinto mountains of Riverside County. Situated at 5200 feet, Emerson is the oldest continuously operating Boy Scout camp West of the Mississippi.  Opportunities include the Road to First Class, Merit Badge Programs, and the E-Team for Scouts over 14 years of age.  The cost is $320.  The first payment of $50 is due. The final payment for camp is due on May 11.  Space is limited.  Merit Badge Enrollment has already started.  Click on the Summer Camp Menu to read about enrollment and to get an application form.

  • Fri May 18 2012: Rock, Rope, Rescue Experience
    Fri May 18 2012 12:00 AM: This High Adventure begins with an indoor training seminar, Monday, April 16, 2012, 7:00-9:30 pm, at the Los Angeles Council Hq. Friday evening, 18 May, we will establish a base camp in Joshua Tree National Park, for field training on May 19 and 20. (The Park has a $10.00 per vehicle entry fee.) You will be instructed in the use of rope and other gear for climbing (both belay and rappel) and in rope rescue techniques. Then you will do some climbing. Your High Adventure Team staff includes BSA qualified climbing instructors who have years of experience. Completion of this training is recognized by the award of a special patch.

    Fri May 18 2012 8:00 PM: The tradition of a Potlatch is a ceremonial feast or gathering of groups for competitive activities and fellowship. This description comes from the Native Americans of the Northwest Pacific Coast. Our Siwinis Potlatch is a gathering of all the chapters in the Lodge for a little learning, fun competitions, great food and ceremonial induction of our new Vigil members. There is a lot planned for the weekend at Forest Lawn Scout Reservation in Lake Arrowhead. In the morning Training in Native American crafts, leadership development, and Brotherhood attainment. In the afternoon we will have sports and competitions. So put Potlatch on your list of things to do and plan to attend. Registration /Check In is Friday and the Program runs to Sunday.
