Summer Backpack 2008 - Tuolumne Canyon

Author: Troop 927 :: Posted: Tue Mar 25, 2008 6:43 pm

For the week long summer backpack of this year, we will be hiking through the Grand Canyon of the Tuolumne River located in Yosemite National Park in August (August 16th (Sat) - 23rd (Sun)). This will be one of the most beautiful trips we've gone on. If you are in the troop and have any interest or questions regarding this trip, please ask one of the leaders. We have a permit for 15 people and would like to fill it. This is a great chance for scouts to get out in the wilderness, enjoy camping away from civilization, and have a lot of fun.

Trip Details (click on pictures to enlarge):

This trip will be a moderate one-way 34 mile trip. We will be hiking through Grand Canyon of the Tuolumne River.

We will be hiking along the Tuolumne River from White Wolf to Tuolumne Meadows. The trip will last about 6-7 days.

There will be many spectacular views, included some water falls along the way. Here is a shot of the top of Waterwheel Falls.

There will be places for swimming and by the looks of photos other people have taken, elevated swimming, and natural water slides. We will stay overnight at one of the camping places to rest and have a day of just sitting around camp, swimming, etc.

Here are some other photos:

Again, if you are interested in going or have questions, please feel free to talk to one of the leaders.
